Repairing the crack involves sealing the crack with a rubber product that is heated to 350 to 380 degrees Celsius. This is the same product used by Transports Québec. It remains stretchable in summer and winter, allowing it to remain effective even in extremely cold temperatures. This process prevents water from seeping into the crack and swelling with winter frost.
For minor repairs, we apply a layer of tar over the existing surface. This type of refinishing (called resurfacing) is ideal for holes, such as potholes. Resurface type maintenance consists of filling holes and cracks as well as compacting for leveling with the existing asphalt.
To ensure a durable maintenance operation of the pothole on the bitumen, the Capital Maintenance Asphalt. team uses a glue called “collasse”. This glue is applied before the laying of the new layer of asphalt. It guarantees a lasting repair and aesthetic.
